Are there any age restrictions?

We are a 21+ venue.

Do you offer standby tickets for SOLD OUT shows?

Yes. We run standby lines for all sold-out shows. At the start of every show, check in with the door person to join the standby line in the entryway stairwell. Standby is first come, first served, and guests wait until 30 minutes after show start to see if tickets become available for purchase.

Where is Empire Comedy Club located?

Empire Comedy Club is in the Arts District of downtown Portland, Maine, at the corner of Forest Ave and Congress St. Address: 575 Congress St, Second Floor, Portland, ME 04101.

How do I purchase tickets for a specific show?

All shows are available on our website, and you can also buy tickets to future shows right at the club.

Should I research the comedian before attending a show?

Yes. Comedy is subjective, and certain comedians are not for everybody. Watching a YouTube clip or reading the headliner's biography is a great way to get insight on the expected performance.

What is the refund policy?

All sales are final. We do not offer refunds or exchanges.

Are cameras allowed in the club?

Taking pictures and videotaping during shows without the club's and the artist's written consent is strictly prohibited.

How long do the shows typically last?

Shows are usually between 80 and 100 minutes, although actual length is entirely dependent on the headliner and their current performance.

Is there a drink minimum?

We do not have a drink minimum. We have a 2-item minimum that applies to both food and drinks, including non-alcoholic beverages.

What is the difference between General Admission and Preferred Seating?

General Admission seating is not guaranteed. If a show sells out, some GA tickets may be standing room only, so arrive early to secure seats. Preferred Seating guarantees seats directly in front of the stage, and availability is limited per performance.

What time should I arrive?

We recommend arriving at least 30 to 45 minutes before showtime. If you have not arrived within 30 minutes after showtime starts, your tickets may be canceled and your seats may be sold to the next customer. No refunds are given in that case.

How can I ensure that my party is seated together?

We cannot guarantee parties will be seated together, but we will do our best to accommodate requests. Arrive early and check in with the door staff or ushers to communicate your party's needs.

Are there banned items?

Yes. Banned items include large backpacks, luggage, briefcases, outside food or drinks, illegal drugs, and all weapons such as pepper spray, pocket knives, tasers, and guns.

Is there parking available?

There are plenty of paid parking lots and garages nearby. On-street metered spaces are free after 6:00 PM Thursday through Saturday, and on-street parking is free all day Sunday.

Do you have a lost and found?

Yes. Email [email protected] to check lost and found. Items are kept for 30 days. Abandoned credit cards are destroyed after 30 days, found driver's licenses and ID cards are surrendered to USPS for return after 30 days, and personal items are donated or discarded after 30 days.

Is the club fully accessible?

No. The club is located in an older building that is not outfitted with handicap access.
